Those Who Don't Know History . . .

Post by Stepanov »

Are Doomed to Repeat It

Why is it that so many Orthodox Christians are so woefully ignorant when it comes to the ecumenical councils and the history of the Church, especially relative to the Anti-Chalcedonians?

If they only knew how many vain attempts at "unification" have been made and the tragedy, confusion, and schism that have ensued each time!

Of course, I think those who really want a "reunion" will have it, and they will have their "reunion" with the Latins, too - just in time to take part in the universal religion that lays the groundwork for the Antichrist.

Anyway, if you are interested, check out the course of this discussion in the Orthodox forum at a rather ecumenical web site.

Anyone here care to explain to me why so many who call themselves Orthodox apparently believe that Non-Chalcedonians are also Orthodox?

Why do so many repeat the refrain that our differences are the result of "cultural misunderstandings" and "semantics"?

Isn't that tantamount to saying the Orthodox Fathers were mistaken and that the Holy Spirit either did not guide their councils or allowed error into them?

I'm really blown away by the amount of apparent support there is out there for a false union.

Is this just an internet phenomenon, or is it more widespread?
