Thank you.
No, not NYC.
It will be in OKC for Liturgy on St Benedict's Day http://www.orthodox.org and then I will bring it to Tulsa / Owasso for evening lenten services on the 27th. I am hoping to also serve Presanctfied on the 28th in Owasso, God-willing. http://www.stjamesok.org
Next it goes to Dallas http://www.orthodox.net and Arkansas http://allsaintsofamerica.com), and to our mission in Kansas City http://www.hpoc.org on April 1/2 (ns)
Bless, Father.
Dear Father Mark,
Thank you for this information. Sadly, this will be the second time where I will be in NYC and unable to see the holy Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God of the Sign.
Can you tell me if it will be in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area in the near future or when it will home at the Synodal Cathedral?
Kissing your right hand,
plani
Orthodox6 wrote:To the great sorrow of many, the Kursk Root icon will NOT visit Dallas on March 28th. I was informed that "Fr. Martin" suffered a heart attack this past Saturday morning, which prevents the trip.
This thread confuses, me, though. Was I given an incorrect name of the priest? Is the Fr. Mark of this thread the priest in question? If someone could straighten me out, then we here can be praying for the right person.
Thank you very much for any help.

Fr Martin Swanson of St Louis had pneumonia and other symptoms (but apparently no blockage, attack. etc...). All this put him in hospital Saturday where a bad heart valve was discovered. He is undergoing heart valve repair/replacement surgery this morning. Please pray for him.
I will still pick up the icon in Oklahoma City Sunday and bring it to Tulsa, but Fr Martin (retired Provost of Health Sciences at St Louis Univ, and otherwise free to travel) will obviously not be meeting it here to take it to Dallas. Instead Fr Anthony Nelson of OKC will be travelling with the icon late next week. Tentative itinerary: going to Wichita, and to the missions in Kansas City ( www.hpoc.org ) and Columbia, Mo.
The Friday Akathist and Saturday Liturgy planned for Kansas City have been canceled. Neither will she be visiting All Saints of America in DeQueen, Arkansas this trip.

Dear Father Mark:
Father, bless!
My prayers for Father Martin. Please post updates on his condition as surgery at his age is so dangerous. Have you started a new thread over in the prayer section so that everyone will be advised?
Respectfully yours in Christ our God,
Maria
Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

At 3:15 CST on Thur 24 March, Matushka Kathrine called to say that they were about to restart the heart. Surgery prep started at 10AM.
The heart valve surgery went well, and was a repair rather than a replacement.
Two minor bypasses were also done.
Feel free to share the good news.
Thank you.

I spoke with Fr Martin yesterday and he should be home tonight or tomorrow. He claims he will be serving on Palm Sunday!
Glory to God!
