Monasteries in Colorado

Post by Грешник »

Does anyone know of any Orthodoxmonasteries in or around CO? (No, Buena Vista is not really an option.) I am looking to take a pilgrimage over Spring Break as has been suggested by a good friend and am looking for some ideas as to where would be a good place to go that is nearby if at all possible.

Thanks for your help.

Well Juvenaly, domes and monasteries aren't exactly the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Colorado Springs. ;)

I really don't know of anything out that way personally - but I'll bet you could find a few caves and maybe some cave-dwellers. ;)

The closest that I could find, apart from Fr. Gregory's monastery, was a GOA Monastery in Denver, and an OCA monastery in nothern New Mexico.

OOD,

Caves would be good :) I just don't trust myself as a hermit. I desire structure in my life at this point/ Depemding on where my journey takes me once my employment obligations are complete I might be able to find a Monastery. I pray the Lord will guuide me in this and I thank you all for your help and prayers.

In all things may the Lord have mercy on my much wretched and unworthy soul.

(You know, thinking about it Alaska sounds good too...)

There is a little monestary about an hour outside of Colorado Springs called Holy Protection. There is only one monastic there right now, Mother Cassiana, but she is very kind and loves visitors. I was there just last week. It is OCA, I believe, but her spiritual mother is in Romania, so there is a close connection to monestaries there. Good luck, and feel free to contact me, or St.'s Helen and Constantine Church in Colorado Springs, they have a close relationship with the monestary.
