Can there be a joint Melkite-Orthodox parish?

Post by basil »

Maybe I'm misunderstanding this article, but did the Patriarch of Antioch really just bless the opening of a joint Melkite Catholic / Orthodox parish?

Here's a link to the article:

..so for as much as people would like to argue all their lives that the new calendar is so similiar to the Churches and that it is just innocent fun, your leaders feed you more of the same poison; and your children will grow up as if this were tradition.

And this is the future of ROCOR, where very soon a ROCORite, who at every moment up until now says, "trust your bishops and God to guide them", will also be able to go freely to this "church" and receive communion, with I am SURE Melkites. Its called spiritual death, take a big whiff.

Lord have mercy on us all!

Orthodox6,

I hope everyone is being hospitable, if not please let me know.

With regards to your other comment about not having strong ties with the Antiochians I give you "Patriarch" Ignatius' reply...

"Patriarch" Ignatius said: “ … We always stress that our church is one with all the churches in general, and especially with the Russian Church… We shall always raise the name of Christ wherever we are…”.

He was of course responding to the MP's representative Archimandrite Alexander who said, “ the ties between the two churches did not break at any time…”.

How sad it is. I am aware of the realty of the move towards the ecumenists. All I hope, is that after it is all decided...there will be a clear division between the ecumenists and the seekers of the True Church of Christ. But, we must all be patient and wait for the next pinnacle decision. Then there will be a definite line between the persecutors and the persecuted. We have come to that moment of truth.

But we must remember too that different people see this line at different times. Some will see it before us and some after.

...but most never do, often intentionally.
