Eastern Orthodox Christian Business Blog

The resting place of threads that were very valid in 2004, but not so much in 2024. Basically this is a giant historical archive.

Can you point to some examples of Protestant material relating to conducting business that you found to be "not helpful" to you?

Tom, to what benefit would there be in my doing so?

I was just wondering what these Protestant business boards say about how to treat your customers and other business people that would be different from how an Orthodox business board would say to treat them.

I am just trying to figure out how an Orthodox would conduct business differently than a Protestant.

Tom,

One example would be that idiotic devotion to "the prayer of Jabez", a Protestant delusion that God will guarantee worldly, material wealth to the "believer."

Yes, I have heard about that.

Can you give me the addresses of some of these blogs? You can PM me with them if you would rather do that instead of posting them here.

Orthodox6,

You want idiotic? I had more than one person ask me did I read and apply the prayer of Jabez. Especially since I owned my own business.
When I said no, and had no desire to - they looked at me as if I was an idiot....

Same thing now with The purpose driven life. I get the same response now. What? You haven't? Why, you have to, it is imperative that you do so!!!!

I guess I am the village idiot in my town for not reading the two! :P

Orthodox Christian Business League

Post by Chrysostomos »

I wanted to encourage all of you to visit my blog and read the post I put up this afternoon. I was rummaging through some old papers I had printed out and found a post on a now defunct website by a Deacon Anthony on forming an Orthodox Christian Business League. He was voicing the same sentiments that I have towards such a network being formed. Feel free to leave comments. If you don't want to have to "sign in", due to blogspot requests, go ahead and comment anonymously. Leave your name in the post, along with any links if you so desire to your own blogs, etc. If you have businesses, as I said in today's post, please email me so I can put you in our business links.

Seeking your prayers for this continuing endeavor,

Rd. Chrysostomos
