Father Nicholas, you are outmost halarious and truthful.
You never know what GOD planned for the Tsunami. Maybe the Tsunami was a sign for us to repent. Or maybe, He wanted to teach a lesson to the peoples of Sri Lanka or Indonesia and He spared the animals. 
GOD works in many ways. May their memories be eternal in GOD's bossom. Let us hope that they earned Paradise. These poor people don't have many chances to meet Christ as we do, we should be grateful.
As always, Fr. Nicholas comment is quite a wondersome analogy. 
(I wonder if that is a correct word for this phrase...hm...)
Animals, I seem to recall, do have a sense we humans seem to have lost? Also they don't go down to the beach to lay in a tropical sun.
Sadly I read of one man from Sri Lanka who has lost 200 relatives, 200! The tragic events have been very much on my mind as I have a very dear friend and colleague who is away there. A Tamil from the area under the control of the Tamil Tigers, he may be in an area least able to - in terms of infrastructure - cope with the inundation and the subsequent problems. A gentle and very humane doctor who I fervently is safe. But I cannot find any information as to his well-being, despite trying over the past several days.
Out of all this I am left with several thoughts.....
The stories of incredible kindness shown by people to their neighbour in the affected areas. Stories in the press of unprecedented giving by both individuals and businesses. The smallness of man in terms of the huge power demonstrated by the earthquake and subsequent tsunami. And the colossal need that now exists and will exist long after the press and broadcast media find another headline or topic to focus on.
Truly even the most powerful are humbled before an event of this dimension.........
