Dear Nektarios,

You could read, The Struggle Against Ecumenism. This gives a good overview of the Old Cal. Greek situation. (I know you didn't ask for a Matthewite perspective, we do however have some significant differences on the historical events. Since I don't want to dilute this thread with more comments on this, if you care to privately email me, please feel free to.)

in Christ,
Nectarios

Dear Katina,

I appreciate your post overall, but you state:

The reason for this is the great disunity of the Greek Old Calendar movement.

I was baptized in ROCOR in 1992. sadly, the Russian's are in serious disunity that rivals the OC Greeks, having now multiple factions as well, with little hope of pulling together. (ROCOR-L, ROCOR-V, ROAC, MP, some independents in Russia, and now even AROC of Denver)

Nectarios - the "Matthewite"

Ironic, isn't it ? But you are right.

In Christ,
Kat

That actually, will never happen.

The egotism and selfishness of man to rule will prevent that.

Tragically the lesson of recent history of those whose witness is strictly traditional appear to exhibit another less attractive quality, a penchant for seperation rather than coming together.

So much so that I can neither make head nor tale of the 'rationale' of those involved.

As one committed to the Church calendar this really hurts and serves what purpose?

Dear Romiosini,

Forgive me, but, even given the egotism and selfishness (which is our own), one must ask why "never"? Even the most fractious of families can unite over a shared love.

And even if "the love of many has grown cold" would one hold to the Faith, given the sacrifices that entails, without a love for God's Church?

Call me naive but I'm not willing to concede to never.

In Christ,

Patrick M.

Dear in Christ Romiosini,
I'm old enough to remember thinking Communism in Russia would never end.
Anyway, It's midnight here in Australia- Happy (secular) New Year everyone!
