Br Jose and the Iviron Icon

Post by savva26 »

Here are some very inspiring articles relating to Br. Jose Munoz and the Miraculous Iviron Icon of the Mother of God. I found them really inspiring.

Sorry. I just realized that I can't copy a direct link to the exact section but if you click on the above you get to the general homepage of thet parish. When you get there, click on the "Brother Jose Munoz" section and you will get there. I especially found Br. Jose's first interview after the Myrrh started to flow from the icon especially spiritually rewarding. Just click on "Brother Joseph's interview to Orthodox Russia (excerpts)" to read that exact article.

During my stay at the Hermitage of the Holy Cross in Wayne, WV, I saw a video about the blessed life and martyrdom of Br. Jose. It moved me to tears. The video was in Russian, but a benefactor of the monastery made an audio recording of his translation of the the dialogue into English, as he was watching it. The fathers syncronized the recording with the video and I was able to experience this wonderful video in a way no American convert could at the time, unless they spoke Russian.
I don't know the name of the video, but the Synodal Cathedral in Wahington DC publishes it. I understand that an English version of this video is forthcoming. I haven't heard anything about it recently though. The footage from Br. Jose's funeral was extensive, and one could witness his relics, with no sign of corruption, even though his body had made a fourteen day journey back to the United States with no refridgeration.
