Wonderful Iconography in Tchecoslovakia

Post by romiosini »

In Czech Republic, the Church of Saint Greatmartyr George, where the Russian Embassy is, the Iconography is quite superb.

Image In this photo you can notice the Royal Martyrs of Russian, along with Saints Elizabeth the Grand Duchess and Barbara, with Saint Seraphim of Vyritsa and Saint Tikhon of course. But, isn't that there the murdered husband of Saint Elizabeth, Grand Duke Sergius Alexandrovitch? Since when was he glorified a Saint? (Or maybe, the halo symbolizes his piety...?)

Image Now this an enjoyable view of the Veners of Russia, along with Saints Seraphim of Sarov and Sergius of Radonezh and his spiritual sons.

Image Saint Seraphim (Chichanov) the new Hieromartyr of Russia, and Saint Joasaph of Bolgorod. Aren't we in Russia? Quite amazing to see these Fathers even in the Czech Republic. (Even though, it's the parish of the Russian Embassy.)

In the Slovak Republic, the Church of the Holy Spirit, the Saints portraied in the Iconography is quite outstanding.

Image I've just noticed something big! Along Saint Alexis Toth (who is a native of Slovakia, Carpatho-Russia) is who none than the great Hierarch, Saint John Maximovitch! Both American Saints, who wouldn't find it amazing. It's seems the veneration of Saint John Maximovitch has gone Worldwide. (LOL Darn ecumenists! They start veneratin' Saints they haven't Glorified themselves... )

Image Good Great Saint Tikhon of Russia, and the Polish Martyr Saint Maximus (Sandovich).

The Tradition of Byzantine Iconography is quite amazing to see it being kept still today, in our days.
