I am wondering what are the thoughts on the return of the Holy relics to the Patriarch?
Relics
TomS,
This is an Orthodox forum not a Catholic forum. Get your historical facts straight before you post please. Secondly, this topic is not about the veneration of relics but the return of Holy relics to the Orthodox Church from the Catholic Church.
Finally, Protestantism is not nor has it ever been Christian. It is what it is a heresy.

This is one of the more traditional Orthodox forums on the web, and it would really be nice to come and have a stimulating discussion about traditional Orthodox subjects without the direction of each potentially productive and edifying subject turning into a defense of the most basic tenets of our beliefs, because a half-converted, uncatechised person professing to be Orthodox stubbornly insists on carrying his extra baggage with him from a heterodox faith. It completely lowers the standard of the entire forum. It doesn't matter what you think, or what I think. It matters what the Fathers of the Church think and proclaim with one voice as the teaching of the One Church. This is what differentiates Orthodox (literally "Right Believing") Christians from all heterodox faiths. We always defer to the authority of the Patristic Sources. Grace burns heresy like a hot coal. Why on earth would anyone take on something as fearful and holy as the Mysteries of the Church, yet harbor heresy? The entire reason the Orthodox Church exists is to preserve the purity of the Confession of Faith as the vehicle of Divine Grace on earth, for the salvation of mankind.
What on earth are these priests teaching in place of a very elementary Orthodox catechism when they're chrismating these people?
