what have people come to?

The resting place of threads that were very valid in 2004, but not so much in 2024. Basically this is a giant historical archive.

No, he isn't. I think it will be a sign that the world is coming to an end if Athonite monks make their debut on the internet- even the so-called "New breed" of Athonites!

It reads to me like the poor man has a mental illness. That's something to pray for him about.

Indeed, this is so. BUT what peeves me is , once again, the coverage is a slight of Christianity in general. Why is this man's illness news? The item serves no other purpose than to denigrate.

Demetri,

These are the kinds of things that are done on the name of "Jesus", like the "laughing church", and gung-ho evangelicals that covert for a few years and then try to convert everyone they meet including their family, Branch Davidians, ect....

It has gotten to the point that you are branded a simpleton with a few screws loose to actually say you follow "Jesus"; in many ways we are, but not as in like a clown.

And I do believe, without sounding like some of our more recent anti-Jewish list members, that the Jews do control the media, and given any opportunity to slander the name of the Christ, they do.

Unfortunately and tragically there is a marked tendency among some of what be called the 'chattering classes' and media folk (Jewish or not) to denigrate anything that might be considered traditional Christianity, or indeed any form of traditional religious observance. These enlightened liberal souls are into much 'sophisticated' spiritual and gnostic acitivites or beliefs.

A traditional believer is to be pitied or feared, but there again a friend or colleague who places their faith in crystals or any other New Age remedies is to be applauded? Spend a couple of hours in Church, Temple or Synagogue every week, your are on your way to be a crackpot but spend hours cramped in a stadium rooting for this, that or the other and your are a regular guy?

In Europe religion is much more a subject of open questioning, ridicule and attack than middle America. And guess who leads the way? Politicians, the media and the so-called intelligensia or chattering classes.

Now where did I put that copy of "Origami, a route to self-actualization"?
