A Spiritual Father is the place to start, who will, if necessary, recommend appropriate books.
Always beware of "Netodoxy"- i.e. Orthodoxy via the internet.
The net is a great tool, but also a doorway through which hidden errors and evil enter. I remember a young woman who recently went onto another Orthodox Forum saying that her Spiritual Father opposed her proposed marriage (with good reason from what I could gather), and she came onto the forum asking people how she should handle the situation. The 'advice' she recieved ranged from the mildly bizaar to the dangerously odd.
The Church is Christ with the community of believers in time and space and Eternity, the only three places we should meet Her. Cyberspace is not one of these three places.
"As long as it depends on Monothelitism, then Miaphysitism is nothing but a variant of Monophysitism."
I thank you for your concern.
I fully intended to search for a spiritual father, but at present due to work constraints, this isn't possible. I've been working 6 day weeks for the last couple of months, and I work over the week-ends. I am changing my schedule in January, so that I might be able to attend church and find a spiritual director.
In order to prepare myself, I've been using the resources section here, and have found a catechism and a prayer book listed. I would like to know if there are any others that might be acceptable.
I wish to thank you all for your help in my journey.
