Not-formaly declared heretic Non-Orthodox influenced Icons

Post by romiosini »

I read some interesting articles regarding our God-blessed Iconography that we have in our Church(the One and Catholic and Apostolic Orthodox Church of course and nothing else) today. I have read quite many proofs that the depiction of God the Father is heretical and was declared heretic by the Holy Fathers of the Seventh Ecumenical Council. I heard miracles of Icons of the Holy Trinity (depicting the Father and the Holy Spirit too). I will post in the bottom some links, maybe we can find a mutual analysis and summary. (and hopefully, my conscience won't be bothering me!)

http://www.traditionaliconography.com/hospitality.asp
This is a site of Paul Azkoul, a famous Iconographer, and his opposition to Icons of the Holy Trinity.

http://www.rollins.edu/Foreign_Lang/Rus ... inity.html
This site is defending and praising Saint Andrew's beautiful and wonderworking Icon of the Holy Trinity. (The alleged Rublev Trinity Hospitality of Abraham Icon with Saints Abraham and Sarah).

http://www.theonet.dk/spirituality/spir ... y_SYK.html
This site is disputing Saint Andrew's Icon of the Holy Trinity. (It seems to be a neutral position).

Anyone heard of the Iconoclastic Schism between the Old Calendarists in Greece? Well this site disputes the actual issues and disputes taken place in Greece. And official scanned documents of the events.

http://www.egoch.org/eng/FAQ/Answer%201%20Long.html
Anyone remember any 1995 Schism? It talks more clearly of the Holy Trinity Icon issue, and defending it. I describes much simpler the situation of the old calendarists in Greece and their schisms.

Hope you can tell me what you think!

romiosini,
Greetings! I mean no offense, but the so called "famous" iconographer you refer to, i.e, is not Michael Azkoul [by the way, that's Fr. Michael], but paul azkoul who is the iconographer. Thank you.

Through your prayers,
paul

Well Romeosini
To be honest I have not read the other articles. I suspect that there would be much to much to comment about on this discussion group, but, still, as you know, I can not and will not espouse this blasphemy of the "trinity icon". I believe my article tells you what I would think of those other articles supporting such delusions [prelest].

Of course,

but what can we say of the Icons of the "Holy Trinity" that do miracles? I totally agree with you, but what the Axion Estin Icon in example in Athos? I'm sorry if I sound quite rude in any way..

My understanding is that the holy icon of the Trinity is NOT blasphemy because The icon "depicts a type of the Holy Trinity as they appeared to Abraham and Sarah by the oaks of Mamre."

Since it depicts an actual event -- unlike the Father who cannot be depicted on an icon because man cannot behold him. This "type" of Trinity DID appear in a form that man could see and therefore "reproduce" (for lack of a better term).

From a website:

This Icon is 18th Century Russian. It is titled "Holy Trinity" in Russian on the bottom. Technically speaking, one cannot make an icon of the Trinity. "No one has seen the Father at any time." But two angels did appear with Christ as a type of the Trinity. Since it did happen, it can be depicted. This particular icon was apparently a family icon or donated by a family whose four patrons are dipicted in the frame.

They say that I am bad news. They say "Stay Away."

What about the Iconography of the Holy Trinity depicting GOD the Father and the Holy Spirit as an old man and a bird TomS?
