If God created nature, then wouldn't miracles just be Him acting in an anomoly? :)

Yes. But I am saying that it is not done to benefit a specific person. Then it would not be an anomaly.

Tom,

The Author of nature is in no way bound by nature. Live more in the heart and less in the head, have faith, and God will not only show you real miracles, but he will work them in your life.

Some people prefer cupcakes. I, for one, care less for them...

Tom,

Your pseudo-deism is not compatible with Orthodox Chritianity. Please reconsider what you are saying. :(

I know. But think about all the "miracles" that occur to non-Christians.

So, does it really matter?

While I see what you are getting at, that we should not need miracles in order to have faith (a sentiment I agree with because Christ Himself pointed it out), you cannot deny the existence of "miracles" happening to real individuals. It is not up to us to comment on what goes on outside the Church.

Then again, I'm an evil Catholic, so what the hell do I know ;)

The fact remains the world is GOD"S to do with as He see fit. He gave us our faith and told us what we have to do....it would be awfly arrogant of us to assume that He only worries about us and not the rest of humanity. Everyone on this planet has a purpose that only HE knows, We really need to stop trying to second guess God and start to worry about the state of our own souls.

I'm currently reading Father Arseny and am quite put out that anybody should suggest he is an invention. For what it's worth, here is a photograph of his grave.

As for saying that a belief in miracles is the product of an uneducated Russian mindset, could anyone say that the Prologue from Ochrid was the product of an uneducated Serbian mindset after reading the life of St Nikolai Velimirovich?

Miracles are not generally used in the New Testament to establish faith: read the Gospel of Matthew and you notice that Jesus only performs miracles on those who already believe He is someone special. So we shouldn't use miracles to try and convince people about the truth of the Gospel. However, for those of us who already beleive, miracles are a confirmation and a blessing.

Please note that I do not subscribe to "Old Calendar Ecumenism" and believe that only the Synod of Archbishop Kallinikos is the canonical GOC of Greece. I do believe, however, that we can break down barriers and misunderstandings through prayer and discussion on forums such as this one.
