Prayers for Pope Petros VII of Alexandria

Post by Anastasios »

HB Pope Petros VII of Alexandria has been killed in a helicopter crash, along with three bishops, and patriarchate officials.

Please pray for his soul and those of his company.

His Holliness Patriarch and Pope Peter was a true missionary in Africa. I come from Cyprus, and I am witnessed of his work. My father knew him when he was a hieromonk on the Holy Stavropegical and Royal Monastery of Machaeras. Especially was kills me even more is. The abbot of the Monastery Elder Arsenius, who was my temporary spiritual Father when I was in Cyprus last year also has died with His Holliness Patriarch Peter. He has taught me the meaning of Economy. Without him, I would of never of wanted to find a spiritual father coming back from Cyprus and opened my zeal to God. Schema-Archimandrite Arsenius was 36 years old. Patriarch Peter was 55. He is 3 days younger than my father.

May their Memories along the Patriarch and the holy Athonite Elder, Archbishops Nectarius, Irenaeus, and Chrysostom and the their deacons be eternal!

According to the press, he was on a brand-new Chinook helicopter, making what would have been his first visit to the Holy Mountain.

Now that I think about it, this has been a bad year for Mt. Athos, Hilandariou was basically gutted by fire too.

May Panagia, protector of the Holy Mountain, interceed for those who were on the helicopter, and all those around the world in these terrible times.
