Visiting Monasteries

Greetings
Has anyone visited the monastery of the Brotherhood of St Herman at Platina, Ca? I just finished reading "Not of this World" the bio of Fr Seraphim and would like to visit his grave. I hope to be in Ca. in a few months. Just curious.

Along the same topic. Has anyone ever visited Holy Cross Hermitage in W. Va. or Holy Trinity, Jordanville? Are they welcoming to visitors? I have passed by both monasteries and wanted to stop but didn't know if you could do that.

The Hermitage of the Holy Cross in Wayne, WV is an absolutely wonderful monastery, and I would recommend any Orthodox Christian visit this holy place. Like most monasteries, if not all, you need to contact the superior to get a blessing to visit. This is usually because they may or may not have accomodations at the time of your visit. The life there is very ordered, and everyone there is so gracious to one another. No one is enamorred of politics or gossip there. They are only concerned with the spiritual life.
Geographically, the landscape of Appalachia is absolutely breath-taking. The ridge around the "holler" where the monastery is located is part of the original Trail of Tears. I could go on forever. I hope to end my life as a monk there; God willing.

Someone from the parish I used to go to has been to Holy Cross Hermitage and he spoke very highly of it.

I've been to the Holy Trinity Monastery. A peaceful respite from the mess of the world. They are not a traditional closed monastery, ladies are welcome to a degree, but they are asked to remember that it is a MEN'S monastery and so act accordingly. There are accomondations on site and within close proximity.

There is also a ladies monastery just down the road that is worth a visit. The sisters are most welcoming.... The Convent of St. Elizabeth
