Parishes in Western Mass/Albany.

Post by bogoliubtsy »

I was hoping someone might have some info for me:

I'm taking a job in Western Massachusetts(Far West on the NY/CT border in Sheffield). The closest ROCOR parish is in Hartford. After that is West Springfield, then Schenectady(which is about 70 miles away..i'm doubting the new parish will be built in albany by then, which is closer).
Does anyone have any info on these parishes? How regular are services, is there a full vigil Saturday nights? What's the ratio of Slavonic to English, what's the general feel of the parish? etc. If anyone has any info they'd like to share, either publicly or privately, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Dear Peter,

Stratford, CT would actually be about 70 miles away as well, and I can speak well of the 2 parishes there. Albany may be building a new church, but they have a place they have been using and I hear it is not oo bad. Sorry I cannot help with the others. I should visit Hartford sometime.

Peter-

I'm from the Albany parish and I also know the priest at the Springfield parish. Email me sometime, and I'll give you more information on these parishes.
