One more thing.
Met Valentine did not pay a cent on his quintuple cardiac bypass surgery and his prostate surgery.

Yes, and as we discovered, it is likely Bishop Gregory did not either! :P

If people would remember the previous posts of the Skete and Fr. John, there would be no bills to pay. In fact, if there were to be any bills to pay, Fr. John Claypool has stated that he would take care of them. So, this "he did not pay post" is a non issue.

This is the information concerning Met. Valentine's arrest for the federal crime of smuggling, which we obtained unofficially, and which Abp. Gregory inserted in his Special Epistle of 12/25 July 2004:

ANATOLY P. RUSANTSOV
DOB: MARCH 3, 1939
ALIAS: METROPOLITAN VALENTINE
HEIGHT: 6'
WEIGHT: 245 lbs
WHITE MALE
DISTINGUISHING MARKS: GOLD CAPPED TEETH
DATE OF ARREST: JULY 3, 2004 [SATURDAY]
TIME: 1900 HOURS
ENTITY: U.S. CUSTOMS AND BORDER PATROL
1st HEARING: AUGUST 3, 2004 [TUESDAY]
WHERE: FEDERAL COURT, NY, NY
CRIME: SMUGGLING [Currency, foreign and domestic]

It seems to me that John asked for documentary evidence, and that this is nothing of the kind. By Reader Jerjis' own admission, this is just information they have obtained unofficially. The fact that it is formatted in a certain way means nothing.

Reader Jerjis further states, "We are still in the process of getting documentary evidence of the arrest."

In other words, they have no documentary evidence. They claim to have a "source", which source they do not identify in even general terms. This is something less than even hearsay.

Reader Jerjis,

The only thing I found interesting about your post is the reserved and respectful way in which Met. Valentine responded to attacks from a layman!

I figured that speculation and arguments back and forth can only go so far, and I decided to get the straight dope on this. This morning I placed a call the U.S. Customshouse in New York and inquired about this case. They informed me that Metropolitan Valentin WAS questioned, but there was NO seizure and NO arrest.

I thank you for post regarding this. I tried to call and get information, but I guess I was calling the wrong place. They told me either that they knew nothing or could not talk about such matters.

Reverend Father,

I called the press office. She told me that, basically, she didn't know about anything until she got a call about it, but she could find out. As I posted on the Paradosis list, her exact words when she returned to the phone were: "The individual, Anatoly Rusantsov, may have been interviewed. It seems he was interviewed or questioned. There was no seizure and there was no arrest."
