I was saddenned to hear of the repose of Fr. Averky. During my eight month stay at Jordanville, in 1992, Father took me under his wing and was very kind to me. I saw him once again when I visited Jordanville to attend services for the feast of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos in 1996, and have had a handful of phone conversations with him over the years. Fr. Averky was one of a kind, and I will most certainly pray for him and light a candle for him at the Divine Services this weekend.
