RESPONSE TO THE APPEAL OF SAINT BASIL OF KINESHMA CHURCH

RESPONSE TO THE APPEAL OF SAINT BASIL OF KINESHMA RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH

Dear in Christ,

First off, we want to thank you for your contributions to our church. Many people have written us offering prayers and what ever money they could spare. One mentioned that he was a poor college student, but that he had a roof over his head and food in his kitchen so he would gladly send the $10 had in his wallet. A ROAC parish in Switzerland held a special collection for us and gave us almost half of a monthly payment for a house! We even had non-Orthodox write us saying although they may not agree with us, they felt they had to help. It was good to see how loving Christians can be to one another when one is in need. Each letter and donation was very moving to us. So again, thank you very much for your kindness and generosity!

To give you an update on our situation, the parish was able to move Archpriest Dionysi and his family of 7 into a decent rental home. To make the move possible, a number of parishioners used their credit cards for supplies, gas, food, etc. Rental fees were made possible by your donations!

Their ex-landlord who had promised them the deed to the house they were living in is unfortunately still having his people harass the family and making stupendous claims against the McGowan family. The McGowan’s are paying all the utility bills from when they lived at that home and also have put deposits down for their current utilities. When called if they had left, Father mentioned that they had mowed and watered but had not had time to clean all of the house since their vacuum broke when cleaning, but that they planned to return to finish. He was told not to and to just return the keys, which he did via certified mail.

While they are moved in, now comes the unpacking stage as well still look for a permanent location for our rectory and temple for our small parish of 17. If you feel moved to help out the McGowan family or our parish, monetarily or with your prayers we could still use assistance. However now you can send it directly to the rectory.

Archpriest Dionysi McGowan

Father Dionysi’s phone also just got turned on yesterday, so he now is receiving all the emails of support. He will be returning phone calls and emails as time permits. People requesting receipts will receive their receipts and thank you letters as soon as Matushka Christina and the girls are able to unpack the stationary. There is a lot of work to be done still! Again thank you all for your helpful prayers and donations!

In Christ, by your prayers, we remain strong in the faith,

UPDATE TO THE SITUATION IN COLORADO

Dear in Christ,

Again we thank you for your prayers and kind donations. Sadly a new curve ball has been thrown our way. Today Father Dionysi's family receive a letter from their ex-"land-lord", former-bishop, Gregory of Denver and Colorado's team of lawyers stating that they are going to be sued in county court for payment of "rent" for the month after they left, (there was no rental agreement, they paid the mortgage since the house was supposed to be theirs and once told to move out immediately, they started moving and paid no more) for furniture that the McGowan's were given (given by the former owner when Father Dionysi asked as the owner was going to hire someone to have them removed from the house) and for the trash cans they brought from Virginia! Hiring a lawyer and going to court are expensive, but more than anything we need prayers. Thank you in advance!

More of the scorched earth policy of the twice deposed (and a near miss) "illustrious" Gregory.

I thought to look up the defintion of a psychopath, the first page I came across was this...

http://members.aol.com/dswgriff/chardisorder.html

...I don't know the man, but I think I can see at least some of this coming through. I am firmly convinced he does indeed have a disorder, however the Church would define this, as medical or demonic, I have no idea. And the fact there there are people who would follow somebody such as him should not come as a shock, there are people who are attracted to the kind of "certaintude" a cult offers.

But the more I realize this, the more I am driven to remember the prayer, "Lord, bless my enemies"

Finally, Some Good News!!!

IT WAS ALL MADE POSSIBLE THANKS TO THE SUPPORT OF GOOD CHRISTIANS LIKE YOU!

Dear friends in Christ,

Last week, (30 July/12 August) on the eve of the feast day of Saint Basil of Kineshma, the McGowan family began closing on a new home! Yes, through your donations, support and prayers, we were able to find a home for them — after much hard work we found a lender that was willing to finance the fixer-upper that they wanted to purchase. Let us repeat that without your contributions, this would not have been possible. So again thank you very much! Please keep the prayers coming as the bills are going to be very tight, even with the parishioners' tithes. After fixing up a few issues on this home (replacing pipe, adding gutters, etc.) we plan to purchase a permit and start work on building a temple on the property.

Again we thank you for your prayers, support and contributions. Please continue to pray for us as we pray for you. For anyone who sent a donation, your receipts and thank you notes are on the way. Matushka Christina just unpacked the stationery the other day and was able to complete this task.

In Christ we remain,
The Parishioners of
Saint Basil of Kineshma
