An Appeal from the Parishioners of Saint Basil of KIneshma

Post by 尼古拉前执事 »

I post the following on behalf of the parishioners of the parish of Saint Basil of Kineshma Russian Orthodox Church

In Christ,
Deacon Nikolai

21 June/4 July 2004

Dear in Christ,

As you may know, there has been some turmoil that has put our parish in a terrible bind. We, the parish of Saint Basil of Kineshma, will not be able to keep our temple and rectory.

Unfortunately this means Father Dionysi’s family has to quickly pack up and find a new rectory and temple. Over the past few months our parishioners used all of their extra money to build this temple that is now being taken from us. While our hard work will be someone else’s gain, it has left us without extra money to pay for a down payment, the first month’s mortgage bill, taxes and insurance for a new home in addition to renting a moving truck and buying moving supplies for our archpriest’s family.

If anyone knows of a property in the region, we would be grateful for your help. Also, even though we really do not like having to ask, if anyone has the ability to help us pay for a moving truck, supplies, or a down payment on a new home, we could really use the help. Even $20 dollars would help us if you can spare it.

Please send any contributions to our deacon’s mailbox, as we are unsure when and where Father Dionysi and family will be moving to, as finding a place for a family of seven is difficult. Checks should be made out to Saint Basil of Kineshma Russian Orthodox Church and if you need a receipt for accounting reasons, we will be happy to provide one for you. Our Deacon’s address is as follows:

Deacon Nikolai Stanosheck
3419 Galley Road, Apt. #118
Colo Spgs, CO 80909 USA

May God bless you all for your generosity and prayers in this time of great need.

In Christ,
The Parishioners of the
Saint Basil of Kineshma
Russian Orthodox Church

I'm a little confused here.

This condition exists because of the actions of your Metropolitan (whether you agree with his actions or not is irrelevent to this discussion).

So then, why isn't the synod of your Church helping to alleviate a situation that was created by the Metropolitan.

Why doesn't ROAC send the money to help one of its Churches get back on its feet? :?

I would say the condition exists because of the actions of a different hierarch, however we are not a rich Church, neither in Russia nor in America. The appeal has been put out to members of our Church however but I wanted to put it out here as well, as I know there are kind souls that may consider helping Father Dionysi and his family, if not our parish.
