Alexi,
You are of a small breed in America who are die-hard supporters of Bishop Gregory. I for one, used to be among your ranks. The thing of it is i would never put one bishop above the rest of the Synod. The bishop at the time of his elevation must make an oath to submit to the Synod. This is odd that all of this controvery is not of faith or of morals, but of who is with Bp. Gregory. There are 11 bishops outside of Gregory who make the governing decisions of the Synod of Bishops of the ROAC. This leaves 11 other pastors to be faithful to as well.
For those who do not care what Bp. Gregory did this is alright, but agaain, it seems odd to me that you would paint a picture of a man as if he were a pope where he was infallible. sadly that office is already taken, has been since 1972.
Alexis,
You say that one week the people of ROAC "were with Gregory" and now "we are not." Well yes, this is the case and no it is not. We are with Bp. Gregory in the fact that until such time as a SOBOR should take place he is still a bishop in the ROAC. We are not with him as in we, the parishes of the USA have petitioned the ROAC Synod to be under our Metropolitan and all have been accepted. Under this acceptance as well, odd to state, the Metropolitan has also taken the Skete and the Convent as well. "until such time as a decision can be made."
These posts are not intended (mine especially) as a slight against the Bishop. I have tried very hard ot keep personal attacks and gainsayings out of my posts for the simple fact, as you have stated, he still holds the rank of the Episcopacy, until the Synod has decided.
They have decided that he is suspended from all active duty, Liturgical or otherwise, and is constrained to his Monastery. This does not seem to have occured, but this too will be dealth with in time.
Just to make things even... During this SOBOR, the Metropolitan will also have to answer for the charges that Bishop Gregory has accused him of as well. This is not as many would say a witch hunt against one bishop this is the way in which ecclesiastical affairs in the Church are dealt with.
"In the way in which you judge you shall also be judged."
I think here we see the ways of mercy in the Church as well.
