Maria,

If this forum is not to be named, then why all of the details about it? And why are you involved on it, if you don't think it would be good for anyone here to be?

Seraphim

Dear Seraphim,

I've cut down my time considerably on that board, as I do attend college, and I find the posts are really dissipative. My computer's hard drive malfunctioned so that I couldn't even visit here. That gave me time to rethink things. About the only group I visit regularly is Bishop Tikhon's group NormalOrthodoxy at Yahoo.

I listened to some of Constantine Zalalas tapes and was very impressed.

I just want to pray and not be involved with anything that smacks of false ecumenism. I primarily posted this because I need prayers to break the online ties that are taking my time away from Christ - guess I was getting addicted to it.

Love in Christ,
Maria

I know the forum of which Maria speaks. It is called "Christian Forums" and has as its motto: "Uniting All Christians as One Body."

The motto says it all.

I used to post there but left when the Orthodox sub-forum got too chummy with Anti-Chalcedonians.

At that time, the RCs still did not post in the Orthodox area much.

Pardon me for saying it, but the silly shallowness of the place weighed on my spirit, and the sappy ecumenical motto troubled my conscience.

I quit posting at CF and deleted my bookmarks to it two weeks ago when a member there (now new member here /\ ) had a thread closed wherein he had posted a very reasonable piece detailing Latin innovations not found in Orthodoxy. The mods there shut him down at once. Apparently the Truth doesn't count there if it offends any non-Orthodox.
I will not go back there again.

I quit going there some time ago and likewise deleted my bookmarks to it.

I immediately felt better.

Had a quick look, after navigating the menu. Nearly wondered off into something to do with pets?????????

A real pick-and-mix store. If they are so one sided stay away, as has already been said, and pray for those who use it and the enlightenment of those who 'control' it.

Until someone identified the site, I did wonder whether it was another website with very argumentative Anglican contributors, but was clearly not following this thread to closely.

As someone who concurs with the Athonite fathers on the Monophysites, I was interested in a comment about Orthodox and anti-Chalcedonians, but did not understand it? Anyone enlighten me, please?

This strain has been very interesting and I agree with everything posted by the several posters. I am glad to have nothing to do with those Byzantine Catholic discussion groups; they merely work to arouse our ire! I quit them all several months ago.

But one point needs to be considered: Do we really want to pray that the "EP" not unite with Rome? I think it might be a good idea if he did so that we could be rid of him from the Orthodox world. He's almost there anyway! Maybe a complete union will bring the Orthodox to their senses.

If I am completely "off my trolley" I beg your forgiveness.
