Changes to St. Seraphim Parish Website

Post by Suaidan »

It would appear the "2nd important letter" which mistakenly stated that Archbishop Gregory is the Archbishop for North and South America has been removed!

I guess it wasn't that important!

why? factual correction is scandalous?

It's simply a matter of the house being in order is all! No more, no less.

I'm sure Fr. John wasn't all that upset.

If I recall correctly it was Father John himslf who asked for the page (article(s)) to be removed at he request of Vladika Metropolitan.

The greater scandal would be for the information to go unchecked and to have to stay so that others could see it.

THIS IS WHERE THINGS STAND TO MY KNOWLEDGE:

The website of the ROAC in America was put up by Archbishop Gregory (under his authority) and is of his own opinion. This has been reffirmed by the Metropolitan who has several times stated that the Archbishop may post his thoughts and ideas on this website AS LONG AS THEY ARE NOT CONTRARY TO THE TEACHINGS OF THE CHURCH AND THE SYNOD. This is why there are things on the ROAC America site that some may not see as "THE ROAC ATTITUDE" because at this point there is no official statement on these matters and thus they are personal opinions.

As far as I know the same above statements are true for the other parish websites of St. Seraphim of Sarov as well as St. Basil of Kineshma's parish site as well.

As said, the edit was done by request of the Metropolitan and with the acceptance of Father John. Not a scandal, just an affirmation of truth and a removal of "muddy water".

ARE YOU THEREFORE saying that the website is NOT OFFICIAL in the proper sense as it is NOT POSTING THE SYNOD'S OFFICIAL POSITIONS?

truths are edifying... truth-tug-of-wars are not...

I didn't mean to imply that you personally were causing a scandal, Joe. I just meant that the whole situation is rather unfortunate. I can only imagine how someone actually in ROAC (or thinking about joining ROAC) is being effected by these ecclesiastical skirmishes.

No Joe,

I am saying that what is not posted on the websites, and I am mainly thinking of the "2nd Important Notice" that was on the site of St. Seraphim's parish site, is because there are no official pronouncements on such matters and the scandal would have been to leave the information up on the site and have people believe that what was written was official when in fact it is not.

My apologies as the first message I wrote could have been a lot clearer, but I was heading out the door to work at the time.
