OCnet seems to be doing a good job of missionizing the heterodox!

Ecumenist style? ;)

Justin,

Gregory Lourie was? I was under the impression that he was just removed from his duties?

As Nicholas reported, Fr.Gregory has been removed from his priestly duties, but apparently is continuing on "as normal".

Some have asked why he was not outright deposed. Fr.George actually answered this somewhere else on the forum. Basically, it's because Metropolitan Valentin and the Synod are holding out some hope that Fr.Gregory will come to a better mind about all of this and repent. Strictly speaking, a deposed priest cannot be accepted back as a priest, but would be received as a layman. Apparently this is a canon that is often ignored now days, but I guess it's not being ignored here...hence why Fr.Gregory was not formally deposed - the faint hope he will have a change of heart, and could return to his normal ministry. Given how it's gone so far, however, I wouldn't be surprised if that eventually did happen. :(
