Not YOU again! :P

Just because I used Google to FIND the sites, does not mean that the CONTENT of the sites is suspect. You're reachin' sweetie.

Christos Anesti, Tom!

Nice to see you as charming as ever!

I think the point was that you need to be more selective about the sites you google TO.

There is a difference between a primary source (the service itself, and the Canons which name a reader as clergy) and a secondary source, articles about the same.

Next time, look for the primary sources. They may take a bit more hunting for, and you may need to become more familiar with the proper terms used (Anagnost for Reader) to search effectively, but there are many who will help you do so. Your problem is that you still want to disprove anything said here that is remotely conservative.

Google for PRIMARY SOURCES, as any historian will tell you.

Then you will begin to understand. It is difficult for you, I know, as this is not your language, though you are learning, and you have not been Orthodox very long. But you have to realize that you may be incorrect, and accept that.

Insulting ME will get you nowhere, although you DO amuse.

In the Risen Christ,

Vicki

I think believe that their are now some Priests GOA and Antiochian who are now Protesting this.

Any more info on this? The CA site bothered me quite a bit. Last weekend I traveled to a GOA parish for Divine Liturgy and met the priest. In our conversation after services I asked about this. He then floored me by saying I was welcomed back next week when his female reader would be there.
I was too stunned to comment or protest.
Now I'm in the mood :x

I just recieved an Email from my priest today,

He said that Bishop Joseph during the Antiochian Deanery meeting,
spoke out against this, and that this will never be accepteable among the antiochians. I am not sure, what is going to be done about this GOA bishop that "tonsured" the women. I asked what is going to happen but I wont recieve an E-mail till tommorow. If nothing is done by the priests and bishops I am sure as many of us are displeased with this horriable action, we can do some thing about it and make our voice's heard.

We shall see what happnes soon.

Christ is Risen!
Truly He is Risen!

Dear Nektarios,

Sadly, the Antiochians in "The Old Country" DO intend to ordain a woman as deacon, it was on the Typikon list...I'll look for it and reference it so you can ask about it.

Please send that if you can find it. The Antiochian Church over there is hard to keep track of on what they do.

About the GOA "reader" my priest told me that His Grace Bishop Joseph was going to send a letter of protest but decided against it because it would be a big waste of time with the GOA metropolitan anthony, because anthony, doenst have or want any relations with my bishop so he would not care what Bishop Joseph said. So they would do nothing. I gusse its up to the people in the GOA itself, if they want some thing done about it. What a shame people dont care. I dont consider that parish Orthodox myself. I think this parish new quote should be, Orthodox Modernization or Death! How sad.

Vicki,
"Deacon" as in serving IN the altar or "Deaconess"?

These are sad times. Maybe Met. Phillip will finally break. The mother churches are in their dotage.
