Dear Noah,

Agreed, but his point about true intolerance (especially for the truth) coming from the liberal ecumenists is quite valid.

Up till a certain point I can agree with that, but the point is, does that allow anybody to behave in such a way?

In Christ,

Perhaps it was too much. But just as the anti-ecumenists must bear with self-reproach accusations of being extremist and self-righteous, the ecumenists must (and from the anti-ecumenical point of view) bear the implications of being "in error". And did not the passage that OOD presented deal with error in the church? I dont think he meant it as malicious slander, just a manifestation of a problem (ie heresy itself) that the church has had to deal with since its beginning, and will have to deal with until the end-times. But OOD can speak for himself, and I dont know him or pretend to characterize his thoughts with authority... I just interpreted them differently myself when I read them, even though the quote is a bit shocking.

I know that some people have made such a switch, but I think those numbers are very small.

Does anyone know anyone who left a traditionalist synod for a modernist one BECAUSE of ecumenism and the calendar? (my impression is that this is an unheard of phenomenon)

Well... the Bulgarian diocese of the OCA used to be in ROCOR--Bishop Kyrill of the OCA was consecrated by Metropolitan Philaret. Perhaps they left because the calendar and ecumenism became factors in ROCOR's isolation?
