Daniel,
That's an interesting piece. Being in the OCA, I don't know if I
agree with you in regards to the future architecture for the OCA.
I noticed you didn't say where this was from, so I don't know
what the real point of the post was....
Having said that, we just had our recent Parish Council meeting
and we are in the process of planning, and for our main church
we will be building it in "Greek" Style, and a chapel in the cemetery,
will be "Russian" Style. They will be "truly" Orthodox looking
churches, as opposed to the unnamed church you showed in your
post. It will be interesting to see which OCA church is planning
to build the Church you showed us in your picture....
With humble bow,

The title was said more in jest than anything else.
Here is the link.
The newer OCA churches that are being biult are really hit or miss design wise. Some are down right ugly (like the above photo) and others like the DC cathedral (by far one the most beautiful churches in the country) are fine examples of Orthodox architecture.
The only way you can tell the above building is a church is the cross afixed to the bell tower, and at that the over all design could be for any old Lutherian church. But I am happy for them that they are able to invest in a new building.

A bit ugly for my taste but we're in America so I see nothing wrong with American looking churches. As long as it has a full iconostasis inside, what's the problem?

Daniel,
Personally, I don't like the design of that building. It would be
nice to have an Orthodox Cross on top, rather than a Latin one.
I hear what you are saying that you are glad that they are able
to invest in a building...true, it's just that I would have hoped for
something different. I need to check if they are planning on having
pews.... That was something very unusual for me, as here in the
PNW, all OCA churches don't have pews. The greek churches do,
but not OCA/ROCOR. So when I went to MN a long time ago and
went to an OCA church, it was wierd being in one with pews. Frankly,
I didn't know what we were suppose to do. So, I followed what
everyone else did, and here I was a reader - hah! And I didn't even
know what the protocol was for churches with pews!!!! Our
church and chapel will not have pews. You can sure "stack 'em
in without pews!!
Thanks for the update and link.
