Well a lot of the positions of the GOA are not Orthodox.

(I was thinking of your priest's telling you that you do not need to believe all the things that the Church teaches, that confession is only needed once a year if that, that fasting is only for monks and many of the other things like that. Of course there is the whole organ and kneeling on Sundays stuff but I think there have been plenty of threads on those violations of Holy Tradition.)

I apologize for the tone of my post.
If you are receiving communion, you are supposed to fast from midnight. If you are not receiving, I don't know what you are supposed to do. I have always tried to maintain the fast even if I wasn't communing. If you have a medical condition where you need to eat, you should discuss that with your priest. Your original question would be a good one to ask him as well.
