You can read the letter to see who was for it and who was not right here.

Dear Nicholas,

I urge you to remove this letter. It was obtained by deceitful tactics and to publicize it is only to participate in such deceit. Yes, people have a right to know what their priests think. But the evidence must be obtained in an honest way.

I'd like to ask- what difference does it make if these priests were in favor of dialogue? Did the drive to re-establish communion with Moscow come out of thin air one day this past Fall? Of course not... it's been a gradual process with opinions like the ones these priests hold growing for a number of years. Also, what's the difference between a priest holding these views now, and a priest holding them three years ago? We're not talking about the three years between 1988 and 1991... we're talking about a year after the New Martyrs were glorified and the Jubilee council was held. Nicholas, do you personally have some interest in "exposing" these priests or is this letter just a matter of recent Church trivia you'd like to share?

What deceitful tactics?

I thought it was good to post as it is a public document on a public site. I figure many will be interested in it.

If you read the text it is obvious that the rocor clergy list is a private clergy list and that the only reason that documenit is public is because a disaffected ROCOR priest took the private and closed discussion and copied it to his personal website (Even naming the document judas.html!)

Yes, it is public now. But you should not do your part in spreading this deceitfulness. It's the same thing as if I posted our private AIM logs (not that I save those!) on a relatively obscure site and then someone else comes along and publicizes it on their web board. You would be mad that the information is being spread.

Clergy lists have an air of trust to them because they are private. People may be more willing to throw out ideas in such a situation that they would never say in public. Context is important and this document is a betrayl of trust.
