I provided a link to the book on Amazon in the previous post. The link contains a review and synopsis.
Basically, it is the fictionalized story of an RC priest sent to Japan in the 17th century and the persecution of the Japanese RCs by the Japanese leaders. The title "Silence" refers to what the protagonist sees as the silence of God in the face of all the persecutions and atrocities committed upon him and his fellows.
It is a relatively short novel (just over 200 pages), but Endo is the master of internal dialog. He is arguably Japan's most famous novelist.
thankyou moronikos, it sounds interesting, maybe i'll see if the library has it here and check it out... lemme know what you think bout it after you're done reading it. i did try the link but for some reason it wasn't working here earlier.... it might be the library computers...sometime they like to mess up

Is the St. Nektarios biography by Sotos Chondropolos or some thing like that? Thats the one I have.
I still have to read "The Arena: An Offering on Contemprary Monasticism"
By the Russian Bishop St. Ignatius. Also I have to read "Patriarch Germanus on Divine Liturgy" and "Life In Christ".
The Jordanville Prayer book is the best one out there.

Orthodox Learner, yes the book I have on St Nectarios is by that Sotos Chrondropolos. I was just wondering, what is the reason that you have to read the Arena by Bishop Ignatious? I was just wondering because I've heard it's a pretty deep book. And I was told when I was a Catechumen that I shouldn't read it until after I've been Orthodox for awhile....although I'm not saying that you shouldn't read it....I was just wondering....I do find it harder for me at least to read certain types of books that are more theological or 'deep'...so maybe it's just me. Who is Life in Christ by?
I think I'll have to agree with you, although I havnt used many prayer books, though I highly favor the Jordanville Prayerbook...I like it because it has a wide selection of morning and evening prayers as well as akathists and canons and the pre communion prep prayers as well as the Divine Liturgy and quite a few other things.

Really?
I was given that to read while I was studing. I loved it! Unfortunately I don't remember most, except for a couple of lessons on forgiveness.
My ROCOR Spiritual Father, sent me a bunch of books, which Included the Arena and the Jordanville Prayer book. I am thinking about the Monastic life after my 8 years in the military and thats proabley why he sent it to me to read. There is an Antiochian Sub-Deacon who is a seminarian at St. Tikhons he is going to read it for lent so he is going to help me with it.
I told me ROCOR SF thats it looks difficult but he said, to try it any way.
The Sub-Deacon will help.
That St. Nektarios book looks good, I am going to start reading it after I read, The Journey to Heaven by St. Tikhon.
