Makis,
You can take your pick as to which ones were responsible for the murders of tens of thousands of clergy and millions of laity. Any one of the MP bishops that were minding the store for Stalin and company has blood on his hands.

Makis,
You might want to talk to the old lady in our church who was crying as she explained how in Greece in the 40's she sheltered a priest in her house, and they would have services in her basement that was flooded knee-high; and how they finally came, took the priest, and he later turned up dead. And to the silence and approval of the State Church which was just as vigorous in helping the authorities.
Perhaps you would like to tell her to her face that she was imagining the whole thing.

I wonder if you'd say that to the face of the woman OOD mentioned. I guess it's not as witty--not to mention easy--when you have to say it to someone's face.
If I were to say it to her, I would not use those words. Those particular words are directed to the people who doggedly remember and do not forgive wounds that were alleged to be done by others, those who bear grudges on the basis of legends and rumors.
But yes, we all need to forgive, don't we?
People who portray these eyewitness accounts as "legend" and "rumor" are brainwashing themselves; and when I see this, I feel the hope in my heart that someone is seeking the truth dashed, any resources of effort on my part to have a reasonable conversation completley pointless.
The whole point of these persecutions was brought up because someone theorized that traditional Orthodox Christians would resort to murder if they could. When it was pointed out that the modernist heretics were the ones cooperating and instigating with murders and persecution, which is so well documented that it is useless to have to explain, all we now hear is that the traditionalists should "forgive and forget", and they hold grudges.
With such shifty tactics, what point is there in carrying on with this thread? And knowing that certain people are willing to bend reality past the breaking point to justify their heretic (and previously murderous) bishops, what point is there in carrying on any conversations at any time?
You say they are not murders since it was the authorities who carried these brutal persucutions out? Then the pope was not responsible for the crusades and the death of tens of thousands of people, including woman and children, either.
As Christ said, many people don't want the truth so they have stopped up their ears so they can believe fantasies.
