By now I know cases of St. Hipatius of Rufinian, St. Maximus the Confessor and St. Theodore the Studite - interesting is that all of them have lived before the I-II Council of Constantinople.

What examples do you know from the Lives of the Saints who had broken communion with heretics before their synodal condemnation?
