<<Rolling Eyes>> My point wasn't headcoverings, my point was that women look too. Talk about being reactionary just to 1 little word.

Actually I was reacting to your offensively shallow perspective on human sexuality and "checking guys out," but I was trying to be nice. I have a problem with lust, and look at girls, but I don't go on message boards and pretend like that's a fine thing. I avoid pools, for instance, exactly because I don't want to be tempted. I certainly don't cruise looking for girls (nor did I when I was single, which was long before I was Orthodox, or even Christian for that matter). You sound like you are right out of the Jerry Springer school of sexuality. "Go ahead and look, in fact go ahead and seek out the experience, just don't touch!"

And now that I've posted hypocritically and foolishly, I'll let you the last word. Good day, Ania.

Fine, if you don't like the term "check out" I'll use admire. I was trying to make a sarcastic remark about guys thinking their not objects of visual admiration.
As far as not going to the pool, fine, I'll stop going there, to the gym, to the mall, to work (despite the fact that I work with only women, I'll see men on the commute to work), anywhere and everywhere there is a possibility I might see an attractive man, & look twice. I'll sit in my apartment, growing pale & decrepid, spending all my waking hours staring at a computer screen confirming & reconfirming to myself & all that listen that I'm a pure Orthodox Christian, who shuts out the world to avoid temptation.
& why do you watch Jerry Springer??? So that you could reconfirm your superiority above the heathens once again? Thank goodness I don't have cable.

Why

Post by TomS »

Paradosis,

I don't get the whole "it's evil to admire women" thing. Why do you think God made women so beautiful? I can look at a beautiful woman and not have images pop in my head of having sex with her. And let's say that that DOES happen. Is THAT in of itself evil? I don't think so. God put that mutual attraction in us.

Please understand that I do not mean that it is okay to look at pornography or any type of material where the images are purely sexual in nature and specifically geared toward appealing to the lustful side of our mortal body's.

But I can look at and appreciate the fine curves of a woman's body and not feel that I am sinning anymore than when I admire all the other beautufil things that the Lord has made.

Thank God for the ladies!
