Could someone who is more familiar with the OCA, or has some "connections," find out if the joint statement recognizing Catholic baptisms is accepted the the OCA generally? Also, can anyone find out who exactly the theologians were who participated in that joint meeting (in 1999 I think it was?)

I'm not going to comment on this essay just yet (if at all), but I would like to make note of Patriarch Cyril the V's Definition of the Holy Church of Christ Defending the Holy Baptism Given From God, and Spitting Upon the Baptisms of Heretics Which are Otherwise Administered.

Can you picture SCOBA folks sitting around a table in Syosset trying to come up with a catchy title for their tretise on heterodox baptisms and one of them coming up with that? Ha....
I guess it's funnier if you visualize it.... I dunno.

Remember how in Boston, last year, the Latin Cardinal Law (eventually ousted for his support of periophiliac Latin clergy) gave the Paschal homily at the Greek orthodox Cathedral? And the issue of Prof. John Erickson's heretical antics? The response? He was made dean of St. Vladimir's orthodox theological Seminary! Actions speak louder than words sometimes.

Erickson was one of the authors of the joint statement in 1999 of the Roman Catholic-Orthodox Dialogue wherein the aforementioned acceptance/recognition of the "sacrament" of heretical Baptism be accepted as coming "...from the same Faith..."
