Oh my! That is not encouraging. I would have to agree that he is not the best man to be Czar. It seems like there are so many masons out there these days.

By all means! TomS isn't the one that gotten off from the wrong side of the bed, it is contrary. It's this sick mentality of wanting earthly monarchy again. We all enjoy saying sermons and claiming we are Orthodox Christians, but we don't even notice that in the old Testament, the mistake of the Jews was to desire Monarchy. That is why Saint Prophet Samuel opposed any earthly Monarchy. And look at us today, we just can't wait for earthly monarchy!
About monarchism...the Hierocratic rule
I have thought plenty of this question and also studied some of the history of orthodox monarchy. First I want to say that the anointing of a Monarch is a mysterion or sacrament of the Church. It is therefore from God. No other form of government has this specific sacramental nature as a true orthodox monarchy. Second there is in orthodox teaching a dyarchy (represented by the byzantine eagle with the two heads) of the spiritual and earthly authority. This dyarchi is often called "galtian dyarchy" because it was the Roman Pope Galatius who in a epistle explained the distinction between what the emperor should rule over and what the bishop - patriarch should rule over. As we know from history we have many examples of the emperor who transgess his own authority and wants to decide things in the spiritual sphere. Even the heterodox west had this problem during the reformation when the roman pope always wanted to be above the monarch and during the investiture struggle, he dethroned emperor Henry. St John Chrysostomos fought with the Byzantine Emperor and we have many many more examples of the difficult relationship with this dyarchy.
Even if I as an orthodox christian believe in monarchy as a blessing from God, I know that God punished all orthodox christians in Byzans and Russia and took away this blessing of a true christian monarchy. If God bless us again, we will have a monarchy. But to strive for this by human means and annoint a mason...Prince Michael...is NOT A BLESSING FROM GOD.
Till we have a monarchy, we have to live with secyular democracy.
Moreover the orthodox monarchy in Byzans was not legitimistic, but elective, even when it existed dynasties.
