Americans, who will you be voting for as President in 2004?

The resting place of threads that were very valid in 2004, but not so much in 2024. Basically this is a giant historical archive.

Wheeler, not to contradict a reader of the Church, but perhaps when one is voting this year based upon the Supreme Court, one should remember that the majority of those one hte supreme court now were appointed by conservatives including 2 by none other than Reagan himself. And yet the Supreme Court continues to butcher the Constitution at every turn and contiuously to spit upon the real America.

Peronsally, Bush lost all hope for my vote when he proposed a budget last year with the largest deficet in the history of the US in both the terms of actual dollars and actual percentage of the budget. Even FDR couldn't hold a candle to Bush's social Communism. I will be voting for Michael Anthony Peroutka of the Constitution Party (considering I am the party Organizer for my county that makes since ;) ). If I did not have that option I would vote for Badnarik of the LP. Such are the options of us PaleoConservatives as I see it.

Unfortunatly those in the sovreign state of Oklahoma do not have any of these options as it is against state law to vote for someone who is not endorsed by either the GOP or DNC.

What's wrong with more immigration? We need more immigration to fuel our economy.

That's an urban myth. If immigration is so great for an economy, California wouldn't be bankrupt. They have more immigrants than any place.

Immigrants are draining the state's social services, clogging the prisons, driving down wages, and, on top of that, sending large amounts of the money they earn out of this country and back to their home countries. None of that helps the US economy.

Legal immigrants are unlikely to be imprisoned and often know more about American history than those raised in America. If you are speaking of illegal immigrants I would agree. Without immigrants Orthodoxy would either not be here in America or exist with an ever further diminished size.

Fr. Nikolai is absolutely correct as regards legal immigration. (this might sound surprising for some since I stand solidly behind the party platform of the CP which includes a temporary locking of hte borders, except for refugees, but these are my views and not necessarily the views of either the Constitution Party or Michael Anthony Peroutka).

However illegal is a serious problem. In fact it grows more serious with each passing day. For instance recall that those "gentlemen" (replace with more apropriate term of choice) that attacked the financial and military institutions of hte US on 9-11 were in many cases illegal imigrants. Also consider that illegal immigrants also work jobs at wages far below minimum and without the safety of OSHA guidlines. Also, what justice is it that all some need to do to come to the us is wade across a river and wait for the next mass amnesty while others who risk life and limb to swim across a sea to come to the US to gain freedom from an opressive regime are literally rounded up and thrown back. There obviously needs to be significant reform in both INS procedure and the laws that govern the same.

Point to consider:

If Bush wins and Congress remains Republican, then at least SOME things might get accomplished.

If Bush wins and Congress becomes Democratic, then we have a Lame Duck president and nothing will get accomplished.

If Kerry wins and Congress remains Republican, we have a Lame Duck president and nothing gets accomplished.

If Kerry wins and comgress becomes Democratic, we still have a problem, because of the simmering split in the leadership of the Democratic party.

Oh for the choice of "None of the above" on the ballot.

"There is no longer a dimes worth of difference between the two [Democrat and Republican] parties." George Wallace

It matters not if the government is in the hadns of republicans or democrats on the facade, its all in the hands of big business interests behind the scense no matter whose strings are being pulled.

It is time for real conservatives to "Naderize" the GOP by telling them we are still here, and we won't be moved. Sadly the only way to do this is vote third party.

I must admit that I am surprized to see so many voting for a pro-abortion candidate like Kerry and even more shocked to se a vote for the Socialist Party! However, I am pleasantly surprised to see how many are voting for the Constitution Party's candidate, Mr. Peroutka. Perhaps to help one another understnad the political views we are coming from, we can all take the following political test?

I took it and here are my results.

I am a Right-wing Idealist

left/right Axis: +7.0242 Position: (+0.4228)
pragmatism Axis: -1.7521 Position: (-0.1055)
