I called him today, and he was still there, I talked to him very briefly.
He had another priest with him. So at least he has another priest by his side. Pray that his guardian angel takes his soul to paradise.

Father Averky, through reading his posts at the Monachos forum, has been a holy inspiration and a sure guide of Orthodox living for us. I thank our Lord for having known even a little of his presence.
Thank you for posting his picture. He looks much younger than I expected. Lord have mercy.

Is any body going to Fathers Funeral? If so would you please if allowed take photos and send them to me so I may remember in pictures of Father. I was very close to Father even though we never actually met each other, he is the reason for my conversion to Orthodoxy and it would me so much if I could see the services in picture.
I will send you my address in a PM if you do go.
Thanks

Dear Nektarios,
I am really saddened and suprized by the news. Fr. Averky will be sorely missed. I am sure it is all for the better as he really suffered for so long and could not have died in a better fashion (taking the Holy Sacraments everyday for the past month before his death and all). It is discomforting to know that now though, there is not that voice of wisdom and reason to contact in misfortune, for me and for so many others.
My best friend went to the funeral in Jordaville and said that the large upstairs church was packed with many of Fr. Averky's friends. I am sorry to say that he didn't take any pictures though.
Eternal Memory!
In Christ,
Nicholas
