That was some good input, Bogaliubitsy! My parish priest (the one who baptized me) is my spiritual father, as far as I know. It's tough, though, because I live about fifteen hours from my original parish. I just write him once in awhile if I have a pressing question, but he referred me to another church, so I take advice from the priest there as well, as I'm guessing that's why he sent me there. But who knows. Being in the Army and being Orthodox is, for lack of a better term, an interesting situation.

Some advice coming from my experience is to not rush into things. If you have a monastery near you go there to search for a spiritual father. Look at all the parishes in your area first. Taking a spiritual father is a grave matter - make sure that you find a spiritual father that you can live under.
