Its hard for me to say since I know it would be pure speculation. I tried, but cannot conceive the issues and difficulties bishops encounter.

But in any case, I suppose we must concentrate even harder on our own salvation, this will never change. Only when we do this will the church grow and become a fruitful vine.

Am I mistaken, or is this the synod that has about 10 parishes in the US?
If so, doesn't seem like administration would be too difficult from afar.

Bogo,

But perhaps it's just irritating translating and faxing and authorizing and so forth everything you do, from ordaining priests to giving an official blessing for the publication of a book to approving a certain Orthodox book in English to be used for catechizing children, and so forth. I'm just speculating, of course... :)

PS. I think they have about 15 or so parishes, and 5 or so monasteries. Now, I wouldn't argue with you if you said that 3 bishops seems like a bit much for that small a flock, but hey, in the early Church every community had a bishop, and it got to the point where they had to start passing canons to prevent every rural parish with 20 people having their own bishop.

True. And he is "Metropolitan of all North and South America" I believe, so maybe they have more in Canada, Mexico, Central and South America?

ENCYCLICAL 2

[...]

When I first posted this reformatted text for Bp Christodoulos on ORTHODOX
see http://listserv.indiana.edu/cgi-bin/wa? ... =&S=&P=826
I said:

"Because of undiagnosed prolems with LISTSERV
the posting of this message by Bishop Christodoulos
of the G.O.C. has been failing, so I am forwarding
this very interesting Encyclical."

I received a reply from John Rigas which raises a bunch of new questions.

I asked a few of these questions , with no reply yet:
http://listserv.indiana.edu/cgi-bin/wa? ... &S=&P=1422

Referring to the post below I asked:

Code: Select all

What acts? What is the history leading up to this "monumental"
event? Are we looking at the beginnings of yet another split in
the Greek O.C. church?

Can someone on the cafe [edit: add "knowledgably"]speculate as to the answers to these questions?

John's post is appended here:

Has the thought passed through your mind, that perhaps GOD does not approve
of the act of this Encyclical and that is the reason for the "undiagnosed
problems?"

I believe GOD did not have approve of other acts which preceded the
Encyclical either!
Just my opinion on the problem posting, of the monumental event, for the
salvation of his soul.

Father Mark,

I read that on the Indiana list.

Having spoken with John Rigas in the past, I would guess that he is not necessarily referring to "events' directly related to this particular announcement, but rather events in general with the Holy Synod.

To say anymore would be starting speculative rumor on my part, so I'll stop there.

I would also add that I could just as easily say the demons were playing games with your system so the message wouldn't get through.
