bumped up for Lucian

Thank you very much.

I found that the quote from Kalomiros' book gave me the same feeling I sometimes get from the sight of scudding clouds on a breezy, moonlit night: like something's coming that I can't quite put my finger on, something bound up with all that has passed.

And I think he is probably right.

". . . when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?" (Luke, 18th Chapter, 8th verse).

(Had to list the verse from Luke that way to avoid the smiley.)

So, what exactly do you say when you start to get the eschatological pitch from a protestant? I can't say I know much about Orthodox eschatology, and I guess I just don't bother with it, since the time will come when the time will come, and between now and then, all we can really do is keep our lamps full and lit, right? Of course, I'll more than likely be caught sleeping with no lamp at all, let alone any oil, knowing my horrible habits! :ohvey:

I would say that most of the modern Evangelical or Fundamentalist Protestant eschatological pitch cannot be consistently maintained from the Bible or the Fathers but is the product of fevered brains, beginning with that of John Nelson Darby in the 1830s.
