^ Where ? Can you give some more pointers, or PM those interested ?

By the way, Stephen S wrote a good summary> I meant to follow up. That explanation was quite appreciated.

Meanwhile, Brookwood has been on my mind since I read that a famous British SOE agent, recipient of so many Crosses and Awards from the French and British governments for his work for the Allies during WW II was buried HERE.
I was so surprised, after having read the history told to us by Stephen. For some reason, I pictured this St Edward Mission as a completely independent building, like a former Anglican edifice renovated for ROCOR's use. Then SiR and GOC.

This was the famous Forest Yeo-Thomas, subject of a couple of biographies, the main one recently reprinted,
"The White Rabbit" by Bruce Marshall. I don't believe all of his story at all. But still this was a notable figure in the post-WWII era.

Britain badly needed "heros" when facing a massive slump after the huge expenditure of energy to fight in that war.
Hence in my opinion Yeo-Thomas was given extra publicity to make the English public feel they had truly fought an evil enemy, and that all their sacrifices were correct. That's why I question much of the descriptions as exaggerated.

Likewise, Violette Szabo was the prototype of the English heroine, lionized by a film and books ever after.

Oh I am glad you pointed that out to us !
I had not in fact looked at that slide show, for I wasn't sure what a "photostream" is. I thought it required some special
technology to view. NICE pictures !!

Congratulations to you. Are you a Reader there, Benjaminw1 ?

Nice ! Very good of you.
Maybe after some time, you might want to embark on the path of Church
service as Reader, Deacon, and possibly even a Priest ?
[The TOC's need plenty more dedicated clergy of all ranks. And you look very dependable ]
