I figured it was due to the change of Metropolitans in Rocor-Mp. Probably many people petitioned Met Hilarion to take disciplinary action. But he declined to, perhaps swayed by an appeal from the former nun when he visited her ill father, I seem to remember ?
It's good if the newish Met Nikolai is cracking down on such abuses. It's hard to tell what happened but obviously Bishop Luke took SOME initiative, anyway, to get her defrocked.

Their falsehood in coming over here to grab territory over muh schismatics while having no problem with larger heresy and schism was a big part of my learning the truth about World Orthodoxy. We have nothing to support in this decision except that in its hypocrisy it vindicates the Russian True Orthodox. I will die on this hill.

I thought that once you were a monk, you remained it for life (from what I remember from Saint Nikodemos's Manual of Confession). She could kiss the Pope's hand, write dubious things about sexuality without sanctions... She's a show-woman... Let's wait for the next episodes...

Canons for thee but not for me. MP does it all the time. There was a US case which Bp. Enoch--IIRC--brought up in Fr. Joseph's show, in which an old nun was thrown out on the street for refusing to join the ROCOR union and the MP lied in court that they had laicised her. One of the true bishops had to go explain to a confused Jewish judge how it works. I think a kindly cop ended up taking her in. Perhaps Father can remind us who it was that confessed the faith in this way--@Suaidan
