Bucovina has been part of Romania ! How did it creep into Ukrainian hands ?!!

This is certainly interesting news : a Bishop who has stopped commemorating Pat. Kirill is a big deal.
I am going to look at your blog later for more details, but thank you for being so alert as to catch this development.

I had missed this thread entirely I think.

Is this Metropolitan Anastasios of Limassol, Cyprus really some sort of mystic or unusual hierarch ?
Or was Markides' case built up around cotton candy fluff, so to speak ?

I have to check the book listing Maria posted. Are you suggesting to read the Reviews, Maria ?
Sometimes one can learn a tremendous amount just from one perspicacious review [without ever reading the book in question ! ]

More and more threats are surrounding the ecumenistic false council of June 2016.

  • The Georgians confirmed that they would attend but declared that the documents regarding marriage, relationship with the world and ecumenism were not acceptable in their current state

  • The Bulgarians asked for the council to be postponed, otherwise they would not attend

  • The Antiochians, seeing the proposal of Constantinople for the settlement of the dispute with the church of Jerusalem other Qatar declared it was a threat for the council

  • The Russians seeing the previous events asked for an urgent and extraordinary meeting of the heads of churches before the council to solde the problem

As a consequence of all this, the Phanar will head an emergency meeting of its synod.

And then there is the recent "open letter" from Mt. Athos.

http://katehon.com/article/open-letter- ... tholomew-i

This letter begins with a very unmonastic flattery of the EP, by calling him, "your Divine All Holiness". Perhaps it is a translational error as this was originally written in the Greek.

Reading the rest of this open letter did not impress me at all.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

His official title in Greek reads literally something as "Most Divine All Holiness".

Please be advised that I am still in communion with World Orthodoxy, although I've been in resistance to my bishop for some years.

Jean-Serge, "other Qatar" - ?! You meant, "other quarter " ?

Maria, I agree, that title is unbelievable. And the Roman Emperors are mocked to this day for PURPORTEDLY calling themselves like gods... !

That so-called fact has been drummed into us for so long that one wonders where exactly from where that idea derived.
Maybe a few Emperors did. Some were 'deified' after their reposes. But how many really believed themselves to be 'gods' ?
I doubt very many did. They were very down-to-earth overall, the Romans, very concrete, not off in the clouds. How else did they create and run a vast Empire better than almost anyone else since then ?!

So really this title is pathetic for the head of the EP, a tiny World Orthodox jurisdiction.

The dispute between Antioch and Jerusalem is over Qatar. The Jerusalem patriarchate created a bishop for Qatar in order to attend the needs of Palestinian immigrants there. But the fact is that Qatar is in the canonical territory of Antioch like Arabia, Irak, Iran etc.

The last news is that the synod of Constantinople decided to keep the scheduled date for the council in a recent communiqué available here

Prepare your peanuts, beer and drinks, the show will begin soon.

Christ is risen!

hayabusa is right, the title used to address Bartholomew in the above letter is θειοτάτην Παναγιότητα, which translates as 'Divine All-Holiness'. Usage of this title predates Bartholomew and the calendar change.
