Someone born blind can certainly deny the existence of the sun, but their opinion cannot possibly carry the same weight as someone who can see.

If the New Calendarists only accept the New Calendar, why are they in Communion with the Russian Orthodox Church, Jerusalem Patriarchate and Mount Athos who follow the Old Calendar?
That's a good question. Maybe you should ask them. Because I'd certainly like to know their explanation. Why did Fr. Ephraim start with the new, then go to the Russians, then go back to the new??

Actually! Being a Spiritual Son of Elder Ephraim, let me indeed say this. Elder Ephraim was never before with the New. Let me confirm that he was with the old when he was a young teenager when his father died and his mother being a Philomonastic, allowed Elder (then named George) to go climb Athos because they met a really pious Priest from Athos. Once Staretz Ephraim decided to enter Mount Athos permanently at 15, his mother enter monasticism, becoming Mother Theophana of Blessed Memory. And yes Elder Ephraim was a old Calendar under Archbishop Chrysostom (before the troubles started with Archbishop Matthew and the founding of the Matthewite Synod). Of course, I agree, what for the Rush to Embrace Heretics? But what for to Brake into pieces? See, the funny part is that. Now, we live in North America, and of course, it is hard to find Saints walking around nowadays, we sadly have Elder Ephraim, who even does miracles by God's endless and wonderful Grace. Anyways, sadly today Greeks, and even Orthodox who don't know spirituality are even scared to call themselves Christian Orthodox. So it's really hard for any "normal" (as non-spiritual people would say) priests to tell the Orthodox to find another Orthodox to get married. And remember that not every "fiance" wants to convert willingly to her to-be-husband's or to his to-be-wife's religion. In example, one person that is inheritant of the Old Calendar but has no faithful Zeal is pretty much sadly un-Orthodox.
Quote: Their are two seperate dates today for the Memories of Greatmartyrs Saints Catherine and Mercurius in the Hellenic and Slavic Churches (Russian, Bulgarian, and all relatives to the Slavs) whichever may be the calendar, it is celebrated November 24, but for the Greeks New and Old Calendar they both celebrate it November 25 (new= 11th old, old=8 of december). Which IS today. not eons ago... I'm sure if you ask any of the priests here, they can confirm for you. Father Michael (ROAC) or Father Seraphim (JP), anyone?
Of course, this isn't an attack of any kind, but only a brotherly theory proposed in this ferocious on-and-on discussion. (technicly more like an argument, but it doesn't seem to bother me).
Talk to you soon Joanna.

It is rather going on and on, isn't it?

I really don't think Joanna is listening, since it doesn't fit in her master plan for the world with this Super Monolithic Church where no differences based on local custom will be allowed.

Different cultures can have different customs as between Russians and Greeks, for example. But, to have Greek families split up because of the calendar, to me, seems sad. They can't even say Hronia Pola to each other. George, why don't you want to address this issue? Instead, you make general comments. I WANT a MONOLITHIC CHURCH? God wants the whole world to worship Him in the One True Faith under One True Church. But, even the Greeks can't agree on worshipping together with one calendar. Does that make sense to anyone? Caos runs wild.
I'm also tired of this arguement. It's getting nowhere. We each have our views and we each will stick to it.
Always seek a blessing first: Remember, amateurs built the ark; professionals built the Titanic.
I like your insight. Can we also say that faith in God, the Creator, built the Ark and faith in mankind, the created, built the Titanic? It's beyond the question of amateurs and professionals, but a level of faith.
Let's talk about something else and move on.
In Christ,
Joanna
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Ps. 50)
George, please notice and understand that Joanna is saying this not of any cruel way, she is very truthful with was she is saying. Of course, this calendar beating the Church got is terribly a sad thing. I can totally, feel Joanna's pain, not because she was 16 or 17 years a convert to Orthodoxy, but because she came to the Church searching the real truth which she did. It would obviously hurt someone to see that you can't celebrate it on the same day. But if you think about it, we should pray that some traditionalist makes it far in World Orthodoxy, and tries to make a movement to return to the Church Calendar the way it ways.
Hey, Saint Nicholas Planas of Athes said: What is uncanonical will fall. So that is what will happen to the calendar too. It's a matter of time, you don't know who within World Orthodoxy is planning to propose such a change. We must pray.
