“Where are the Orthodox?
The Orthodox is a loser church. The young do not know the faith, the churches are dying the people are dying. and the orthodox are clueless to what is going on around here. The Muslims are winning. They are victorious. They know how to win. Christians are just losers.”What is your criteria for "winning"? All the Gods who have not created the heaven and the earth will perish and those that worship them. It is all just dust and ashes; little more than a deamon's feaver dream. Do not be too concerned about it. We know how it ends.
“I have eaten at many Protestant and Catholic soup kitchens. I have never eaten at an Orthodox soup kitchen.” I can not speak for anyone else or their situation but no one has ever gone away hungry from our table unless they wanted to.
“Protestants know their faith and can defend it. “ No they don’t and no they can’t. Even Satan can quote scripture. (Mathew 4:5-6). They reject Holy Tradition but even the Apostle Paul says “ So then, brethren, be standing firm and holding fast the Traditions which ye were taught, whether by our word or epistle. “ (2 Thessalonians 3:15) Even the whole basis for Protestant theology can be discounted by scripture. “But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel besides what gospel we preached to you, let such a one be anathema.” (Galatians 1: 8 ) Or my personal favorite, “First of all you must understand this, that no part of scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation.” (2 Peter1:20) “Orthodox youth don't know a darn thing.” Even this sinful wretch can disprove that much nonsense… I know of a lot of damning things and have done most if not all of them at one time or another. I could go on but what would be the point?
“Protestants and Catholics show up on time for their services. I have been to many Protestant services and hardly anyone shows up late. Go to a Greek Orthodox service and half the people show up after the Gospel reading and a third show up after the eucharist. That never happens in a Catholic church.” If they ever did show up late they would lose their seat… It is true most of the time, but if you were attentive the ones that show up late were probably not there at vigil either. We euphemistically call them “candle holders”. If you want to find the Orthodox in an Orthodox Church find the one who holds the keys. They come early, unlock and open the doors, tend the lamps, stay for the services, clean up after everyone else has left, and lock up for the night. Talk to them, because they know …
This whole “race “ thing is really stupid. Racism is a pigment of your imagination; an arbitrary distinction in hue. When we stop making a distinction there will stop being one. We are all Human-beings the one creature most beloved of God. Indeed a living Icon of a Living God.
America is all immigrants. Everyone here is an immigrant. First it was the Vikings, then the Spanish, then the Dutch, Sweeds, English, Germans, Irish, Chinese, Slavs, you name it they came. Now it is the Hispanics. Why? For the same reason all the others came; because they want a better life. Every group that came in any real numbers, were hated by the ones before them. That is the way it has always been. “In the case of America, our immigrant problem is mostly Mexican. Now I have nothing against the people of Mexico. Its an interesting country and many Mexicans are nice people. But if wanted to live in Mexico, I'd move to Mexico!” Replace Mexican and Mexico with Irish and Ireland and it was said about my grandfathers too. It is foolish, nearsighted and racist but it is not new…no, not new…
