Spasibo Deacon Nikolai. What other ways can a women show humility before the House Of God and His Altar? There are other ways i agree, but they should be along with the bare minimum of the covering of her head.

No, you misunderstand -- My point is that you have to be careful about taking things out of their HISTORICAL context. When something STARTS -- you have to look at the period to figure out WHY that particular thing started.

Because Saint Paul was spreading the teachings of Christ. I know it is hip to deny these teachings today and ignore or remove parts of the Bible that do not fit in with the modern, secular world or personal opinion, but this is what lead to the Protestant religions and bibles too.

...every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoreth her head... (I Cor. 11:5)

Tom,

I cannot speak for anyone else, but using the practice of modernists (ie. the GOA), doesn't hold much weight with me as they have already abandoned the faith on many other fronts.

And I understand the GOA since I was once one of them. Headcoverings don't go very well with Cadillacs, big hair, fur coats, and masonic pins. That's not meant to be an insult, its just the plain truth (in general).

I pray you will leave them and go elsewhere, what a spiritually destructive atmosphere; it is bringing back memories!

That actually explains something to me. The fact that Protestants change parts in the Bible. I have been asks repeately by some of my Southern Baptist and Baptist and lots of other "Christian" churches what parts of the Bible that we believe in. And I didn't understand this question until Deacon Nikolai's post. Thank You again Deacon Nikolai.

It's not just the GOA, and you know that.

St. Paul wrote that at a time when woman covered their heads or faces WHENEVER they showed respect for something. IT WAS A CULTURAL SIGN OF RESPECT!!!!!

You cannot take ALL SCRIPTURE LITERALLY!

So instead of taking Sacred Scripture literally, you pick and choose at your own discretion. And you seem to choose something that would seem to anyone looking at it that it should be taken literally. You can't really take that phrase metaphorically.

Why not? I thought I was pretty clear on why and how I do.
