To Joe,

Post by germanus »

Such confusion lies in this world...remember that we are not of this world nor truly meant for the world in the way it has become. The father of lies (believes he) runs the show here. It is by Christ's merciful sacrifice that we are even able to live out this existence in hopes of things to come. I don't know if you have read the story of Maximus the Confessor, but if you haven't, I believe that by reading about his struggle you may find a little peace. Pray to him and ask for his prayers, he saw many clergy in his day fall to the hands of the enemy and still boldly walked with the Lord and was graced with discerment to know the truth while his colleague's minds were clouded. Please to whom ever reads this, take no offence, this is not an encrypted message. Glory to God and peace be with you Joe.

Archbishop Gregory of Denver and Colorado

What's the real deal with this guy? I've heard all sorts of things about Archbishop Gregory, and I don't know if it's true or not. The info on his two websites http://www.trueorthodoxy.org and http://www.trueorthodoxy.info is really good. I have corresponded with the Archbishop, and he seems a nice enough guy.

I was wondering, have any of the people on the forum met Archbishop Gregory or had anything to do with him? If you have, then can you please shed some light on the matter?

There is much that I have heard said against Vladyka Gregory here and through the members of the ROAC under Metropolitan Valentin, however like yourself my correspondence has been entirely positive and I have found him a faithful hierarch and prayerful monk. I should mention that I am not under his jurisdiction, lest anyone think I am biased in that manner. I also agree with you that his websites are nice, and I have an ikon from Dormition Skete of St. John the Wonderworker of San Francisco that I greatly treasure. If I had any more room for ikons at my ikon corner, I would buy more from DS. Also, I am planning to purchase the two-volume Orthodox New Testament from the affiliated Holy Apostles Convent in a few months.

:? He is said to buy people from the Cyprianists against money. In Congo, a monthly amount of 30 dollars is a very nice and decent salary. But by the way, the Cyprianist should not protest since they create their Congolese mission "using" a local priest who had been defrocked by the Alexandria patriarchate...

From the Life of St.Pambo hermit of Egypt-July 18th /July 31st

At the beginning of his monasticism, St Pambo heard the verses from the 38th [39th] Psalm of David: "preserve mine path, that I sin not by my tongue". These words sank deep into his soul, and he attempted to follow them always. Thus, when they asked him about something, he answered only after long pondering and prayer. He would say, "I must think first, and perhaps I can, in time, give an answer, with God's help." St Pambo was a model of a lover of work for his disciples. Each day he worked until exhausted, and by the bread acquired by his own toil.
