Oh Boy! Even the subject matter changes in order to continue the insults and put downs. It seems this site just thrives on character assassination, rumors, gossip, and down right lies. If this is representative of what ROCOR is, then all I can say is - How sad!

Think I'll stick to the other sites where at least there is a little more substance and proof to back up the smear campaigns. There is absolutely nothing here of value for me.

Orthodoc,
I'm sorry, but I think you completely misunderstood my post. The post was made partly in an effort to lighten things up a bit while keeping up with the development of the topic of this thread(i.e. the canonization of Fr.Schmemann). My godfather, whose wife is a very well known Russian iconographer, was discussing this half joking "question" in a very lighthearted manner- in the same manner I was discussing it in my post. He, like my former priest who was a spiritual son of Fr. Schmemann, loves Fr. Schmemann's work! Incidentally, my godfather also smokes and I myself have been known to smoke- so no, there is no Schmemann bashing going on here and I'm sorry you interpreted it that way.
In the same conversation we also discussed Tsar Martyr Nicholas and the fact that he smoked- the only glorified saint/martyr that we could think of with this habit. Fr. Florovsky also smoked quite a bit, and I don't know that there are many on this list, including myself, who would "bash" him.

I'm sorry, but you've entirely misunderstood my post.

Dear Orthodoc,

I understand how it feels when you really venerate someone you think is a saint and others don't buy it. So I understand your excitement. I believe in the sanctity of Metropolitan Philaret and to a lesser extent, Fr. Seraphim Rose and am met with people often telling me that they don't agree or don't see it. :x But I think that they are being honest in their conviction and there is no need to be defensive or condecending when disscussing the topic with them. Please try not to get so excited. And please don't leave our list  I have read edifying things by you here before and it would be a loss if you went.

In Christ,

Nicholas (Savva)

Peter, don't sweat it. I think EVERYONE ELSE understood you perfectly. At least, I know I saw the humor in it!
