I'm actually surprised Mark Arndt is against the war, considering he has glorified this Communist "Martyr" Aleksandr Schmorrel and to my knowledge, still refuses to recognize the Royal Martyrs as Martyrs (in the 1980s after the glorification Royal Martyrs by the ROCOR he refused to do so anyway). He's always been very politically "on the left" as well. I would have thought he'd be completely for the Sovok and Silovik clique that has launched this genocidal war.

The statement about the ROCOR being a group of "Nazi idolaters" is a point the MP has been saying for decades, as even Kirill Gundayev wrote a letter to Putin claiming the glorious ROCOR was "fascist" and schismatic. That letter was on the roacusa.org website even.

What's the justification for saying Aleksandr Schmorell was a Sergianist? He was a member of the ROCOR.

Schmorrell was a member of this group called the "White Rose", an anti-Nazi resistance movement, that had been founded by several Communist professors and students of the University of Munich. They distributed leaflets that encouraged German soldiers to put their weapon and not fight against the Soviets, and this organization was only founded after the German invasion of the Soviet Union.

I have heard it posited that Schmorrell might not have been a Communist, and if so why did he join an organization founded and mostly compromised of them? Most -- not all to be fair of the ROCOR people in Germany did invariably support the German invasion of the Soviet Union.

The White Rose was NOT a communist organization, it was a group of Christian pacifists of the Lutheran, Catholic (and in the case of Saint Alexander, Orthodox), persuasion.

It was only natural that most of Rocor in Germany and countries like this would have supported the German invasion of the Soviet Union.

After all, they were emigres BECAUSE of the Bolshevik takeover of Russia. Though the RF is angry about this apparently to this day, not understanding this aspect at all, or refusing to try, it was a normal reaction. The Russian emigres hoped so much that the Soviet regime would be overthrown and they could then return home to a normal life in Russia.

It was terrible being a refugee, of course. Imagine the struggles, the language barriers, the wartime scarcity of food and essential items.

I don't blame them one bit, because no one knew how it was going to go : the Germans could easily have won and gotten rid of the Stalinist govt once and for all.

But Russia is a hard country to invade ! Nobody has been successful at that for hundreds of years.

The US and Nato should be remembering THAT REALITY instead of issuing bellicose statements and flat-out threats. These make the West look FOOLISH and ruled by primitive emotion instead of any degree of logic.

About Alexander Schmorell, so he was actually a member of Rocor ? Is that for SURE ? I had thought he was only getting going on his Orthodox life. I haven't read the book by Matushka Perekrestov, or I would know the answer !

Does anyone know IF that biography of Schmorell is completely accurate ? Or is embroidered to make the "martyr" sound more holy than he actually was ? He might have been a political martyr, but a religious one ?

What is the TRUTH of this situation ? While the name "The White Rose" is most assuredly catchy, I figured this was a gambit by Met Mark of Berlin to secure a "saint" for his own diocese, which was lacking any recent glorified ones, as far as I know.
